2013 Holiday Activities in Las Vegas For Kids

By

The Holidays have come again and they really came fast this year!  If you have the time in your Holiday schedule, here are a few 2013 Holiday Activities in Las Vegas that may make this season memorable for you and your family: 1.  The Ethel M Cactus Gardens – My family and I just visited the Cactus Gardens last evening.  We love going to the Gardens, walking the chocolate factory tour and purchasing, what I believe is, the BEST hot chocolate ever!  This is a quick event but really worth it.  Plus admission is free for the whole group.  Their lights come on at 5pm until 10pm through New Years. It does get cold, so I suggest wearing warm coats and gloves.  Check out times and information here.     2.  The Bellagio Gardens – What does the Bellagio have in store for you this year?  Bring the family to the strip and see the beautiful botanical gardens.  Make sure you also stay for the Bellagio Fountains performance.  After years of living in Las Vegas, the fountains are still so beautiful and the Bellagio Gardens smell so fragrant.  You can’t help but get into the spirit.  Plus – bonus – these activities are free to the public, so while your pocket book may be feeling the Holiday, this may fill your spirit. 3.  Mailing Letters to Santa at Macy’s –  Some years ago, Macy’s came up with the brilliant idea to install a very large, red mailbox that goes directly to the Northpole, complete with a desk and Santa postcards.  Your child can bring his/her own letter or write a letter to Santa and mail it right there in the store.  It is really cute to watch the kids compose and deposit their letter to Santa. 4. The Magical Forest at Opportunity Village – Celebrate the holidays with a cherished southern Nevada tradition – the Magical Forest at Opportunity Village! The Magical Forest is a winter wonderland with millions of sparkling lights, nightly entertainment, great food and endless holiday cheer.  Monday Nights are Family Night: Receive one free child admission (ages 3-12) with the purchase of one full price adult admission every Monday night.   5.  The 2013 Holiday Season at Springs Preserve  – Train Rides with Santa, Night at the Museum Polar Express Event, Cookie Decorating and Snow Globe Creation Crafts.  Plus their new “Mad Science Mania” events.  Check out what the Springs Preserve has in store for you this season. 6.  Roos-N-More BEST ANIMAL EXPERIENCE! – Now is a great time to visit the Roos-N-More Zoo.  The weather is cooler and that makes for a more pleasant experience!  There are only three more open zoo days this year – check out the schedule here.  AND, one of them is holiday themed!  Roos-N-More’s Holiday lights and Christmas special: December 21st from 2-6pm is a special Christmas zoo day. We will have raffles, crafts, and interactions with animals. Price of admission is $20 per person. Bring a gift for one of our animals (i.e. blanket, pee pad, toddler toy, dog toy, tilapia fillets, etc) and you will receive a raffle ticket. 7.  Hike / Visit / Enjoy Red Rock, Calico Basin, Valley of Fire, Lake Mead and Mount Charleston – Now that the weather is cooler and snow has arrived on Mount Charleston, it is a beautiful time to take the family on a hike or go sledding.  Our Valley has so many beautiful natural resources just waiting to be explored! 8.  The Nevada State Railroad Museum’s Polar Express “Santa Train” that runs out of Boulder City, NV. It is $5 per seat and Santa visits your child during the trip.  We did this last year and it was fun (better for younger kids) but definitely get there early because it sells out and the line gets bigger and bigger.  Afterwards, we went into Boulder City and had breakfast and then drove down to the Rail Road Tunnel Trail at Lake Mead, just outside of the park entrance for some exercise.   Advanced Tickets are recommended.  This train only runs on the weekends through December 22, 2013. LAST MINUTE ADDITIONS: I keep coming across fun things I want to do before the season is over, so here is a quick add on list.  I hope your holidays are Merry and Bright! The Downtown Container Park – We were here last weekend in the late afternoon and it was so much fun.  Plus they had a local group of carolers singing.  A very pleasant way to enjoy the afternoon with your kids.  And before dark, East Fremont street is more kid friendly. Glittering Lights at The Speedway – I can’t believe I forgot to add this to my post!  A dazzling array of festival lights and sounds. Lemontree Holiday Decor Browsing – Of course I had to put my favorite holiday store in this post.  It always puts me in a happy holiday place! Snow at Town Square – through December 23 Town Square Park Nightly Snowfalls: Monday – Thursday 7pm Friday – Sunday 7pm and 8pm Snow in Las Vegas? That’s right! Town Square brings holiday cheer to Las Vegas in the form of snowflakes with Snow in the Square at Town Square Park. Each show lasts 10 minutes and is choreographed to everyone’s favorite holiday music. Happy Holidays from Moms in...

Town Square Las Vegas is about to get so much better ….

By

Every once in a while, I get the opportunity to go on a date with one of my kids – just the two of us.  On this particular day, we decided to go to Town Square and walk around. I must say that I am so glad we did!  We saw sign after sign for new and fun shops coming into the development and I wanted to share them with you. First of all, did you know that the Sugar Factory will soon have a restaurant at Town Square near the movie theater?  This is our favorite place to go for birthday celebrations, but we don’t love taking our kids to the strip to do it.  Now they are open a location that is great for locals and visitors right in Town Square.  We like to order one or two big sundaes with a group of us and marvel at the size.  We can’t wait for them to open! We also noticed that Panda Express and Capriottis both have open shops in the movie theater section of Town Square.  There is a huge sign for Gameworks opening soon.  Even though I couldn’t find a date for their grand opening, they do have a Facebook page for this location – check it out here: https://www.facebook.com/GameWorksLasVegas. We also noticed a coming soon sign for Crazy Pita, a locally owned rotisserie and grill. They will be opening near I Love Burgers.  We love their food and love that they are local. Speaking of local, you may or may not know that Pediped has a store in Town Square and you can try on and purchase their new women’s line called “Brian James Footwear.”  I personally own three pairs of their shoes and just love them!  Angela Edgeworth, founder and local business owner, has a true talent for fabulous shoes! We always stop in Sketchers, Justice and Hello Kitty – which is a short walk across Town Square near California Pizza Kitchen.  We also often stop in Charming Charlie to see all the color coordinated jewelry. While on that side of town square, we noticed a “Coming Soon” sign for Crate & Barrel – in fact it says opening October 29th! And, if you are looking for some extra holiday $$, they appear to be hiring for the season.  Their new store is located across from Tommy Bahamas. There is a store called “It’s Sugar” that I never really noticed before, located across from the YardHouse.  It was a really fun store, full of gigantic candy and lots of other unique gifts and toys.  From 1/2 Pound Sugar Daddy’s to Superman and Duck Dynasty – they seem to have everything!             I also took some pictures of events being promoted around Town Square, including: NOVEMBER 1, 2013 UNLV’s “A Haunted Homecoming” happening November 1st, 2013 at Town Square. This event is free and starts at 11am until 6pm.  At 6pm there is a parade. OCTOBER 31 – NOVEMBER 3, 2013 Zoppe, an Italian Family Circus at The Smith Center from 10/31 – 11/3/2013.  Go to www.TheSmithCenter.com or call them at (702) 749-2000 to reserve your tickets.    ...

Games2U Kids Party Las Vegas

By

Searching for that perfect kids party for your son or daughter? One that’s innovative, fun and also super exciting?  Search no more!  Games2U Entertainment “Where no games have gone before”, is in town!  Whether your kids party is in your backyard, a local park or the desert, Games2U will come to you! It’s mobile entertainment.  This company offers timeless, exciting and fun outdoor parties with games you choose from their creative list that includes Laser Tag, Giant Hamster Balls, Booger Wars, Foam Machines, Gyroscopes, U-Bots, Beat the Bucket, Splash Attack,  various mobile video games, 4-D movies and much more!  Everyone will have a great time running around as they compete, get silly, and just have a ball! Recently my son turned 11 and he insisted on a kids party to celebrate with 20 of his closest friends.  We searched high and low for the perfect venue.  It was tough since we felt we had “been there, done that” when it came to the typical parties: bowling, movie theaters or mini-golf. Nothing seemed exciting enough!  Also the summer days in  Las Vegas are over 105 degrees which makes it hard to plan a party outside without a pool.  And the thought of 20 sugar-loaded kids running around inside my house just didn’t seem smart or very relaxing! Then a friend recommended Games2U Entertainment!  We were hooked when we discovered that they travel to you and set-up and host the party and there are so many creative games to choose from- games that were entirely new to us.  I mean, have you ever heard of “Booger Wars” or “U-Bots”?  Neither had we, until we learned Booger Wars are two giant sized inflatable noses with bean bag “boogers” that are thrown at competing teams!  And a U-Bot is a 7 foot tall robot that you climb inside and operate to shoot Nerf balls at your friends.  We finally decided on three games for my son’s birthday:  Splash Attack – a tag game with water guns; “Beat the Bucket” -where a bucket of water pours on your head; a  “Shooting Cannon” –a cannon blasts candy into the air.  The water games we chose were cool and refreshing and everyone had a blast, even the parents enjoyed watching their kids get soaked! As an added bonus Games2U provided trained game coaches to host the games leaving me free to enjoy the party. Our coaches  were two young men who connected well with the kids and were great at directing, keeping everyone happy and entertained! Check out www.games2u.com for their wide selection of games and the pricing. For special discounts and offers, you can “like” the local Games2U Facebook page at www.facebook.com/Games2ULasVegas. Games2U is not just for kids parties, it’s the perfect venue for all kinds of gatherings such as corporate events, birthdays, summer camps, team building, fundraising, carnivals/festivals, and church functions.  If you want your next party to be special, innovative and absolutely fun, contact Games2U!  Your friends will be talking about the great time they had at your event for days to...
