Town Square Las Vegas is about to get so much better ….

By

Every once in a while, I get the opportunity to go on a date with one of my kids – just the two of us.  On this particular day, we decided to go to Town Square and walk around. I must say that I am so glad we did!  We saw sign after sign for new and fun shops coming into the development and I wanted to share them with you. First of all, did you know that the Sugar Factory will soon have a restaurant at Town Square near the movie theater?  This is our favorite place to go for birthday celebrations, but we don’t love taking our kids to the strip to do it.  Now they are open a location that is great for locals and visitors right in Town Square.  We like to order one or two big sundaes with a group of us and marvel at the size.  We can’t wait for them to open! We also noticed that Panda Express and Capriottis both have open shops in the movie theater section of Town Square.  There is a huge sign for Gameworks opening soon.  Even though I couldn’t find a date for their grand opening, they do have a Facebook page for this location – check it out here: https://www.facebook.com/GameWorksLasVegas. We also noticed a coming soon sign for Crazy Pita, a locally owned rotisserie and grill. They will be opening near I Love Burgers.  We love their food and love that they are local. Speaking of local, you may or may not know that Pediped has a store in Town Square and you can try on and purchase their new women’s line called “Brian James Footwear.”  I personally own three pairs of their shoes and just love them!  Angela Edgeworth, founder and local business owner, has a true talent for fabulous shoes! We always stop in Sketchers, Justice and Hello Kitty – which is a short walk across Town Square near California Pizza Kitchen.  We also often stop in Charming Charlie to see all the color coordinated jewelry. While on that side of town square, we noticed a “Coming Soon” sign for Crate & Barrel – in fact it says opening October 29th! And, if you are looking for some extra holiday $$, they appear to be hiring for the season.  Their new store is located across from Tommy Bahamas. There is a store called “It’s Sugar” that I never really noticed before, located across from the YardHouse.  It was a really fun store, full of gigantic candy and lots of other unique gifts and toys.  From 1/2 Pound Sugar Daddy’s to Superman and Duck Dynasty – they seem to have everything!             I also took some pictures of events being promoted around Town Square, including: NOVEMBER 1, 2013 UNLV’s “A Haunted Homecoming” happening November 1st, 2013 at Town Square. This event is free and starts at 11am until 6pm.  At 6pm there is a parade. OCTOBER 31 – NOVEMBER 3, 2013 Zoppe, an Italian Family Circus at The Smith Center from 10/31 – 11/3/2013.  Go to www.TheSmithCenter.com or call them at (702) 749-2000 to reserve your tickets.    ...

Las Vegas Spring Break Activities

By

Spring Break is upon us and for many, leaving town is not an option.  So what do you do if you are having a staycation?  Here are some Las Vegas Spring Break Activities to make this Spring Break a memorable event for your family. Have Your Nails & Toes Done. My daughters love to have their toes done, especially when you add little flower embellishments.  They were so excited to find the Paris to New York Nail Bar in their own backyard after watching this YouTube video below.  They can’t wait to have their Glitter Pedicures! Teen Facials.  Nothing makes you feel so grown up as your very own facial.  I had to search for sometime to find a place where my kids could get a mini facial and they love it.  The SkinBar in Henderson, NV offers facials for kids 10 and up. Park Tour.  A great way to spend a day in Vegas is by visiting three or four parks.  Have your kids plan some of their favorite locations and make a day of it.  Breakfast, local park, lunch, second park, third park, ice cream and a fourth park will keep you busy all day! Here are a list of Las Vegas Parks. Here are a list of Henderson Parks. See A Show. We are heading into a busy time for the strip, but there are always deals to be found for locals.  Cirque de Soleil offers local resident discounts.  Blue Man Group offer local discounts.  And if you sign up for The Smith Center, you can get on their pre-sale email list and find great offers for shows at in this beautiful setting.  We love to dress up and see a show! Bellagio Gardens, Bellagio Fountains & Crepes in Paris.  If you are going to see the Bellagio Gardens and take in the fountains, why not walk across the Strip to Paris and have a Crepe at La Creperie.  La Creperie is located on their French cobblestone street.  You walk up to the window and order, then sit at their bistro like tables and enjoy a savory or sweet crepe.  Sundaes at The Sugar Factory.  We love going to The Sugar Factory to have a sundae.  These are not your ordinary sundaes!  They are huge.  We can all share one with left overs.  This is just a fun activity and the kids love it.  Moms in Vegas recommend that you go in the day time.  Once it hits 7pm, it gets crowded and loud! Painting Pottery.  There are several places to paint pottery but our favorite is Color Me Mine at The District in Green Valley Ranch.  The store is clean and there are lots of pottery choices.  Why not have a Spring Break painting pottery.  Invite some friends along and have a good time.  Afterwards, there are lots of dining choices – Rachael’s Kitchen, The Crazy Pita, Balboa Pizza Co. and more – or grab some Fro Yo and let the kids play outside.  The district is also fun to walk around in the evening because all the trees are lit up. Hoover Dam Tour.  One of the best Las Vegas Spring Break Activities may be a trip to Hoover Dam.  You can walk across the dam, take a Dam Tour and see beautiful lake mead.  If you up for an adventure, take a hike through the railroad tunnels and walk old downtown Boulder City, where you can grab lunch from several restaurants and pizza joints.  Valley of Fire.  I was so impressed with the Valley of Fire that I want to go again.  It is truly a magical place.  However, it gets really hot out there, so the perfect time to go to the Valley of Fire is in the winter through Spring Break.  After that, you may not enjoy the hikes as much as you would right now!  You may want to add this to your Las Vegas Spring Break Activities list. Red Rock & Calico Basin.  This time of year, you can often find small springs during your hikes in Red Rock and Calico Basin.  We usually pair our hike with some time at a nearby park after our hike. Miniature Golf.  It is so nice outside this time of year.  A great activity is Miniature Golf and there are many places to try.  But this year, we want to try  The Putt Park, Pole Position.  What kid doesn’t love driving.  This indoor go-kart racing is a must on your Las Vegas Spring Break Activities list.  They even have a 3 day spring break camp available for your kids, if you need a few hours to yourself.  Learn more on their web site here. Movies & The Mall.  My girls love The Fashion Show Mall on the strip.  So, we like to go there every once in a while and just walk around.  Typically, I will give them a purchase plan – example, each of you gets one outfit or a new pair of shoes.  This makes the trip to the mall fun because they get to find and pick out something new.  We often eat at the mall (Nordstrom Cafe being one of our favorites) or leave and go to the movies.  One of our favorite movie theaters is at Town Square. Lake Mead.  There is no better way to see Lake Mead than by boat.  One of the great Las Vegas...

What Are You Doing With The Kids This Summer?

Las Vegas & Henderson Summer Camp Options Crazy to think that it will soon be summer and you will be looking to keep your kids busy.   Are you in need of a Henderson Summer Camp for your kids?  I know a few crazy moms who love to spend the summer’s every waking moment with their kids, and I completely respect that – in fact, I might be a little jealous, but I work and I need some time during the day/week to keep my life in order. Right around now is when I start to think about the Summer.  What will we do?  Are we going on any road trips?  Will we have a vacation in our summer vacation?  Will my kids visit their grandparents?  What camps will I put them in? So, I am so excited to tell you about the Las Vegas / Henderson Summer Camp Fair taking place at Henderson International on Sunday March 3rd, 2013.  This fair is a great resource for all parents to learn about Las Vegas and Henderson Summer Camp options, all in one place.  I am hoping to see adventure camps, camps for little ones, sports camps, art camps and maybe a culinary camp or two? Of course, the camp organizers have thought of everything and there will be activities for the kids at the fair so you can spend more time looking at what Henderson and Las Vegas has to offer you this summer. As if your own needs were not enough of a reason to go, The New York Times just published an article about the benefits of summer camp for your kids.  The article is titled, “All Children, Rich or Poor, Need Summer Camp.” This excerpt, taken from the article, makes me want to go to summer camp, “Summer camp is more than a fun vacation. Living, playing and sharing adventures together, camp becomes part of a child’s development into a healthy, productive adult. At camp, children improve self-confidence and self-esteem, and learn the social skills of positive interaction that stay with them for a lifetime.” So mark your calendars and find out what Las Vegas and Henderson Summer Camps are out there for your...

Las Vegas Holiday Events for Kids

By

It is about that time of year where my panic button sets in …. there is so much to do and see for the holiday season in Las Vegas and only a few more weeks to squeeze it all in.  Here is a list of our family favorites every December in Las Vegas: 1.  The Bellagio Gardens – we love to go to the Bellagio Gardens during Christmas time.  It really gives you the holiday spirit and our kids absolutely love to walk around and take pictures.  We usually go in the evening and park in the self parking to the left of the entrance which brings you into The Bellagio right in front of the gardens.     2.  Ethel M Cactus Gardens – we love to walk through the Cactus gardens at Ethel M in Henderson, Nevada.  It is very beautiful and magical.  It does get cold, so I suggest wearing warm coats and gloves.  Check out times and information here. 3.  Mailing Letters to Santa at Macy’s –  My girls love to write letters to Santa and take them to the big red mail box at Macy’s to send off to Santa. 4.  Hike Red Rock – Now that the weather is cooler, it is a beautiful time to take a family hike in Red Rock.  Find the perfect hike here. 5.  Magical Forest at Opportunity Village – Every year we say we are going and we never do – but this year I am hoping to make it to this magical forest.  My friends swear that younger kids love it!  Here is a link to more information:  https://www.opportunityvillage.org/magical-forest/ 6.  Springs Preserve Holiday Spectacular – We went to this last year and my kids are now getting a bit too old, however, it is very festive and I think if they were closer to the 3-6 year old range, I would definitely visit this holiday spectacular again.  Check out the link for more information. 7.  The Nevada State Railroad Museum’s Polar Express “Santa Train” that runs out of Boulder City, NV. It is $5 per seat and Santa visits your child during the trip.  Here is their website for more information – advance tickets are recommended:  http://www.nevadasouthern.com/SantaTrain.html Happy Holidays from Moms in...
