Training Future Entrepreneurs – A Love Letter to Moms

By

Dear Mom and Future Entrepreneur, I’ve been where you are. A young adult ready to take on the world, start a family and a career. A new mom with a bundle of joy who demands all of your waking attention, making tasks like dishes, work, laundry, errands next to impossible and utterly slow. A mom of two with a toddler and a baby demanding all your waking attention, making work and extra money challenging. A mom of young school children – where suddenly some of your time has returned but it is difficult to return to the work force and you can’t seem to find the right fit …. plus you need a flexible schedule and want to be able to stay home with your kids when they are sick. A mom of school children – your time has returned but you still want a flexible schedule and to be involved in your kids lives. So, what do we do?  Some of us work a full work week and have...

Why Did The Chicken Cross The Road?

By

This was sent to me in a chain of emails and I thought it was pretty funny Enjoy! Why Did The Chicken Cross The Road? SARAH PALIN:  The chicken crossed the road because, gosh-darn it, he’s a maverick! BARACK OBAMA: Let me be perfectly clear, if the chickens like their eggs they can keep their eggs.  No chicken will be required to cross the road to surrender her eggs.  Period. JOHN McCAIN:  My friends, the chicken crossed the road because he recognized the need to engage in cooperation and dialogue with all the chickens on the other side of the road. HILLARY CLINTON:  What difference at this point does it make why the chicken crossed the road. GEORGE W. BUSH:  We don’t really care why the chicken crossed the road.  We just want to know if the chicken is on our side of the road or not.  The chicken is either with us or against us.  There is no middle ground here. DICK...

Don’t Talk To Strangers in 2014

By

What Does Your “Don’t Talk To Strangers” Look Like in 2014? I am almost 40 – yep, not embarrassed to say it.  I think age is a state of mind and an adventure.  When I was 10, I remember some sort of big dog animal character coming to our school and talking  about safety with stickers and bags.  Things like “don’t talk to people you don’t know,”  “don’t get near the car if someone you don’t know is trying to talk to you,”  “don’t take food from someone you don’t know.”  The basics.  I also remember something about a razor blade in Halloween candy on the news at some point in time, but for the most part I was well cared for… I was watched after … I was rarely in a situation where someone could approach me. I also grew up in a big city (mostly) and my mom and dad would warn me about...

Styles Trending Now

By

I used to be someone who always noticed a woman’s jewelry.  I always wondered, “how do they put all the jewelry together and look so amazing?”  I didn’t have a “Go To” place to buy affordable but stylish pieces, and then I went to a Stella & Dot show. Let me preface by saying that I do not love buying parties where you go and are expected to buy something, but there are a few companies with products that I truly love and I will go to those parties and/or buy from them directly.  These include:  Stella & Dot, CABI, Tupperware and Pampered Chef on occasion. Back to Jewelry.  It was so amazing, with so many great pieces that I signed up as a “distributor” simply for the discount.  And, let me tell you, I use that discount like nobody’s business!  There is definitely a reason why you see Stella & Dot on the arms, ears and...

Why Can’t I Just Stop Overeating?

By

It’s 7:30pm.  I had a very healthy dinner and I do not need any more food today.  But, as I sit on my couch my mind sounds something like this: “I could use something chocolate.  Is there something in the cupboard?” “You know, I think there is some popcorn in the pantry.” “Ohhh, that would taste great with caramel drizzled over it.” “What about some crackers with cheese.  Just a couple, maybe 10.  Oh, and a glass of wine.” ……. It goes on and on, even though I know I am not going to eat.  I rarely give in anymore.  Mostly, I just tell my brain that I am not really hungry.  “Yes you are” my brain says.  “Well” I answer. “If I am, I am still not going to eat”. Sometimes I just go to bed or I drink lots of herbal tea.  Other times I read, clean house, listen to music, etc. Sometimes I ask...
